A garment steamer makes life easier by speeding up the process of de-wrinkling clothes. It saves trips to the cleaners and therefore saves you time and money.
On this page, I’ll be going over how a steamer works and what to look for when buying one.

The garment steamer uses boiled water to create steam that will then be used to get the wrinkles out of your shirts, trousers, dresses, and anything else you might have.
It does this by boiling the water in a tank and sending it to a tube to the steam nozzle. Once the steam reaches the steam nozzle, you simply point it at the wrinkles and let the steam take care of them.
In addition to getting rid of wrinkles, the clothing steamer can be used to kill germs on a variety of house hold items. You can use a good steam cleaner to clean beds, drapes, and even furniture.
The hot steam will kill most germs on contact. Just be careful you don’t point the steam nozzle at yourself, because it can harm you as well. Steam burns can be quite painful and in extreme cases may cause permanent damage.
Clothing Steamer Reviews
There are many different models on the market so it is easy to find a clothing steamer. The problem is that most steamers do not do a very good job at getting rid of wrinkles. Below, I’ll go over the best so you’ll know you’re buying one that works.

The Jiffy Steamer J-4000 Pro-Line Commercial Garment Steamer
This steamer is the best garment steamer you can buy. It has a 1500 watt heating element which puts out a lot of heat. With this steamer you can safely forget about ever going to the dry cleaners to get your clothes pressed again.
It will take all of your wrinkles out of your clothing and will run for over an hour. This means you can safely get the wrinkles out of your entire wardrobe without ever having to stop to fill the machine up again.
The Jiffy J-4000 is also easy to setup and only has a few parts to assemble. No tools are required other than the wrench that they provide for you.

The Jiffy J-2000 Garment Steamer
The Jiffy J-2000 is a less serious version of the J-2000. It works off of a 1300 watt heating system and can get most of the wrinkles out of your garments.
The reason I do not rate it as high as the J-4000 is because you will still have to break your iron out to get your collars and other thick areas of clothing wrinkle free.
This steamer is also very easy to setup and will come with the tools you need to do so.
You’ll find that you can still clean furniture, beds, and curtains with this steamer, but it will take longer than if you were using the J-4000. This is most likely a result of its lower powered heating system.
Overall, I’d say if you are not afraid to keep your iron on standby, this is the best less expensive alternative to the J-4000.
